A truly timeless flower and in the parentage of the many garden hardy geraniums. Cranesbill has violet blue flowers, deep cut leaves with reddish stems and is a hive of activity for bees during the summer. A great source of sustenance for many insects.
Sowing Time: February - June
Sowing Outdoors: Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in warmth 15-20c (60-68F) and keep moist. Lower temperatures inhibit germination.
Growing on: Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from bright sun. When large enough to handle, transplant individually to 8cm (3in) pots. As young plants develop grow on at between 10-15c (50-60F).
Hardening off / Planting out: Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out. Allow 60cm (24in) between plants.
Special Note: Remove faded blooms for best display.
