Beetroot Solist (Pre-sown Seed Tape)

Quick and easy straight rows of beetroot which need virtually no thinning. Round, tasty beets with sweet flesh and good colour.

For outdoor sowing:

When: April to July

Where: In prepared seed bed

How: Create a 2.5cm (1) deep drill. Allow 30cm (12) between rows. Place the unrolled tape into the bottom of the drill. Secure one end and pull tight to straighten. Cover tape with fine soil, firm gently and water well. Keep moist. Seedlings appear 7-12 days. Sow individual tapes every three to four weeks for continuous crops.

Care: If necessary thin to a final spacing of 10cm (4in) Replace any dislodged soil. Keep moist and weed free.

Harvest: June to October, Start to harvest when golf ball size for baby beet. Twist the tops off as this prevents bleeding.
