Mr Fothergills Tomato Prinipe Borghese (Vegetable Explorer MRF2172)

Tomato Principe Borghese. Classic Italian sun-dried variety.
Small, egg shaped fruits that grow in bunches, ideal for drying. Determinate (bushy habit), best outdoors. Excellent source of vitamin C and antioxidants.

To Sow &Grow: Sow indoors, a warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow 0.5cm (1/4 inch) deep, thinly in a pot of compost. water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20 c (60-68 F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedling usually appear in 7-14 days. Transplant to individual pots when 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) tall. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts) , before planting out 60cm (2 inches) apart, when frosts are over. Do not pinch out side shoots. Support is only necessary if trusses become too heavy. Water & feed regularly.

Mr Fs tips: Harvest whole plants and hang to dry in a light, sunny airy position until the tomatoes are pliable but leathery to touch. They can also be air dried in an oven. Also excellent eaten fresh.
