When HRH The Prince of Wales created Duchy Originals in 1990 it was because of his belief in the clear advantages of organic farming:the production of natural and healthy foods and sound husbandry which helps to regenerate and protect the countryside and wildlife.

Sowing: May to July outdoors, directly into rich, well prepared soil in a sunny spot. Sow 3 or 4 seeds together 4cm deep. Allow 20cm between each group of seeds in the row and allow 45cm between rows. Also ideal for growing in large pots and containers.

Growing: Hoe regularly and keep watered, adding a mulch during hottest, dry periods. Pods grow to around 11cm in length.

Harvesting: June to October. Pick pods regularly whilst young for heaviest yields and to extend the season.
