BEETROOT Cardeal F1
A vigorous variety giving high yields of tasty baby or mature beets with a high sugar content. Shows great tolerance against downy and powdery mildews.
For outdoor sowing.
When - April - July
Where - In a prepared seed bed.
How - Sow thinly in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Cover with 2.5cm (1in) of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 7-21 days. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care - When large enough thin to 10cm (4in) apart. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest - June to October, start to harvest when golf ball size for baby beet. Twist the tops off as this prevents bleeding. Young baby leaves are edible and can be used in salads.
